General Internship

JOB SUMMARY Responsible for assisting all member of the Kane County Cougars front office in event presentation and execution including, but not limited to: working as an Usher, Parking Attendant, KidZone Supervisor, Concessions worker, Mascot, Grounds Crew and Stadium Operations assistant or Promotions assistant. Non-game day duties will assist in marketing, accounting, souvenirs, sales and other special projects as assigned.  

TOOLS AND EQIUPMENT NEEDED Telecommunications equipment, fax, copy machine and computer utilization.

DIRECTION EXERCISED Manage other interns and game-day staff as assigned. 

ATTENDANCE REQUREMENTS Hours will vary, but will include evenings, weekends, holidays and long hours on game days. 

WORK ENVIRONMENT Office is part of baseball operations and staff must be located to meet with visitors or take calls. Our work environment is very physical, fast paced and at times very stressful. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Sit and use personal computer for long periods, as well as long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 35 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/STADIUM OPERATIONS
1. Prepare stadium for event as instructed.
2. Work assigned function during event.
3. Communication with other departments and employees to ensure great Guest Courtesy and the safety of all individuals.
4. Direct and execute three theme nights using budget provided by Cougars.

 

MEETINGS
1. Meet with internship coordinators after each game and as requested.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Professional: Related college degree (or coursework towards related degree) preferred, computer hardware and software proficiency preferred. 

Personal: Project a positive image to internal (employees) and external (guests, vendors) customers. Communicate effectively and professionally at all times. Display strong leadership skills, exercise excellent managerial judgement, ability to perform multiple tasks at one time, clean and neat at all times, team builder and team player.

Seasonal Ticket Office Internship

JOB SUMMARY Fulfill the ticketing needs of all customers while providing them with excellent customer service. 

START DATE Preference is for interns to start in mid-March

END DATE Preference is for interns to stay through Labor Day

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OFFICE MANAGEMENT
1. Assist customers who purchase tickets over the phone and in-person 
2. Game day duties include assisting in the operation of the Ticket Office during walk-up sales as well as servicing clients in-person and over the phone
3. Miscellaneous duties including, but not limited to, answering the main phone for customer service, assisting in the field tarp, etc. 
4. Other duties to be assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
1. Detail-oriented person to handle and prioritize multiple tasks while working in a fast-paced environment 
2. Passion to work in the sports industry
3. Strong customer service skills
4. Prevoius customer service experience with phone customers is preferred
5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills including successfully communicating with the general public and other employees
6. Computer skills helpful: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, TicketReturn Ticketing Software
7. Positive personality and enthusiasm 
8. Available to work weekends, holidays and evenings throughout the season

Cougar Crew Internship

JOB SUMMARY Assist in creating a fun, engaging game day show by leading on-field promotions, contests and pre/post-game activites as directed by the promotional staff. Energetic individuals willing to participate fully in our theme ngihts, promotions and antics are wanted! Participate in Street Team, marketing events on non-game days by interacting with fans and working to increase interest and excitement about the Cougars. Must be willing to work these events on non-game days, evenings and weekends. 

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NEEDED Ability to use a radio to communicate with staff. Personal email account for communication and scheduling.

DIRECTION EXERCISED Manage and interact with fans who come onto the field for the National Anthem, first pitches, contests, Run the Bases and other promotions. Fully and energetically participate in non-game day promotional events as well as manage event on behalf of the Cougars with no direct supervision.

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS Hours will vary, but will include evenings, weekends, holidays, game days and non-game days.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work will be focused on game days and at marketing events. Our work environment is very physical, fast paced and at times very stressful. Cougar Crew works mostly outside in the stadium and in the elements. The team typically plays rain or shine, cold or warm.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 25 pounds. Physically able to access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely. Ability and willingness to dance, interact with fans and participate in set-up and break-down of on-field events. Ability and willingness to drive personal vehicle to promotional events on non-game days.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/STADIUM OPERATIONS

3. Communicate with other departments and employees to ensure world-class game day show, great Guest Courtesy and the safety of all individuals.

6. Willingness to dress in costume, contribute creatively to events and assist with assigned projects.
7. Reliability and dedication, excellent communication skills.

Food & Beverage Seasonal Staff

JOB SUMMARY Accepting seasonal applications for food servers, cashiers, concession stand workers, picnic servers, cooks, warehouse, etc.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work will be outside in the elements, on the concourse, in the seating bowl, on the outfield decks, in the suite level, in concession stands, etc.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 50 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely.

Grounds Crew

JOB SUMMARY Assist Head Groundskeeper in maintaining the field at the ballpark

DIRECTION EXERCISED Manage and interact with other grounds crew members as you work together to maintain the field

ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS Ability to work long hours, nights, weekends, and holidays

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work will be outside in the elements, on the field and concourse

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Long periods of time spent on your feet. Have the ability to move up to 50 pounds. Physically access all areas of the ballpark quickly and safely.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO
1. Mowing, fertilizing, seeding, spraying the field
2. Infield prep
3. Mound, home plate, and bullpen repair
4. Batting Practice setup and teardown
5. Game prep
6. Tarp pulls

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Experience preferred by not required

Part-Time Mascot Performer

JOB SUMMARY As a member of the Kane County Cougars Promotions Department, you will be responsible in serving as a mascot with the intent of presenting Cougars fans with positive experiences. The Cougars currently are seeking mascots to do events and appearances in an as needed/part-time capacity with the potential for game day performance on an as needed basis

DUTIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

NON-GAME DAY
1. Appearances in the local community (runs, festivals, contests, charitable causes, with the Cougar Crew Street Team, sponsors, etc.)
2. Appearances at Cougars outside events
3. Conceptualize mascot's personality, antics, role in fan engagement and contribute new ideas for involvement in promotions, appearances, etc.
4. Communication and collaboration with the Cougars promotions staff
5. Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans
6. Improvising and thinking on one's feet to make the best possible decisions in the moment

GAME DAY
1. Pre-game meetings with staff members
2. Energetic, pre-game, in-game and post-game presentation as directed by Cougars management staff, keeping in mind the family-friendly atmosphere and vision of the organization as we deliver an excellent show to fans
3. Participating in a post-game autograph session once per homestand
4. Professionalism in working with both staff members and fans
5. Adherence to game day agenda/run-down to meet requirements of group outings, birthdays, sponsorships, promotions, etc.
6. Input on making game day experiences more enjoyable for fans
7. Improvising and thinking on one's feet to make the best possible decisions in the moment

QUALIFICATIONS
1. Willingness to fulfill the role of a mascot as needed throughout the season and off-season
2. Excellent communications, organizational, creative and interpersonal skills
3. Energy and passion when it comes to performing
4. Willingness to work weekends, holidays and evenings
5. Dependable, professional, experiences performer
6. Valid drivers' license and reliable transportation
